Tranby College's

Virtual Open Day

Ms Peggy Mahy / College Principal

A welcome from the Principal

Welcome to Tranby College, an independent Kindergarten to Year 12 co-educational College of the Uniting Church located in Baldivis. We are a learning community in which everyone is dedicated to meeting the needs of our students.

Nothing is more important to us than your children.

We are a College for all. We dedicate ourselves to knowing your child and growing their abilities. We support, inspire and encourage by providing opportunities for every student to learn and discover new talents, new passions and new interests. Commencing 2021, our commitment to your child’s development will be further strengthened through the implementation of personalised and individually focussed goal setting and review processes, delivering a purposeful education for your child.

It is our personal approach, at all levels, that results in happy and fulfilled children. Tranby College is a school that connects and inspires, fosters imagination and innovation, creativity, passion and purpose. I encourage you to take the time to visit the College for yourself.

Tranby College Junior School

The Junior School comprises of two classes for each year level from Kindergarten through to Year 6. We offer a personal, individualised education aimed at developing the intellectual, spiritual, social, physical and emotional development of each child. We believe that collaboration, co-operation and communication between students, parents and teachers are essential for the successful learning of all children.

The class teachers in the Junior School work in teaching/learning teams to provide 'best practice' strategies for their students. The introduction of Literacy Blocks in 2021 will enable our students to be involved in uninterrupted literacy time throughout the week. The explicit teaching of Letters and Sounds in Early Learning and the use of the program for targeted intervention from Years 4 to 6 will support our work with the use of evidence-based programs that are supported by research.

Tranby Junior School is a technology-rich environment. All classrooms are equipped with e-Boards which assists in bringing the wonders of the outside world into classrooms. iPads are available for student use in Early Learning through to Year 3, and students in Years 4 to 6 have a one-to-one laptop. Technology is used throughout the Junior School to enrich students learning opportunities and is embedded throughout the teaching of the curriculum.

Tranby College Senior School

To Know and To Grow

Building on from the important foundations established in the Junior School, our Senior School students start to explore their identity as both a learner and a community member, and we support each student to become the best possible version of themselves

Our varied co-curricular program helps our students to develop academically, physically, socially and emotionally. Whether it is through representing the College in carnivals or sporting competitions, being a member of our Cadet Corps, competing against other schools in various academic pursuits or developing new skill, our co-curricular activities encourage each individual student to develop holistically.

Students in Year 7 start to look at who they are and who they want to become. As they move into Year 8, our students begin to consider their place in their own community before examining their role in the wider community as they move into Year 9. Throughout Year 10, our students explore the various pathways open to them in Years 11 and 12. Students can undertake one of four pathways throughout Years 11 and 12 before applying for post-schooling further studies, training or employment.

Our Gifted and Talented program in Years 7 and 8 allows academically capable students to extend their knowledge and skills in a variety of projects, investigations and programs. Through our unique partnership with Curtin University, our gifted and talented older students have the opportunity to study various university units while completing the rest of their studies at school.
